About GHMUSIT Competition
The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Universities Student Innovative Teaching (GHMUSIT) Competition is an inter-disciplinary and inter-institutional initiative for pre-service teachers jointly organized by the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), South China Normal University (SCNU) and University of Macau (UM), under the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance for Teacher Education (GHMU-ATE).
Theme : Global Citizenship
The promotion of a sense of a shared future of humanity is a key educational goal for all. According to UNESCO (2014), global citizenship refers to ‘a sense of belonging to a broader community and common humanity. It emphasises political, economic, social and cultural interdependency and interconnectedness between the local, the national and the global.’ UNESCO (2015) advocates global citizenship education (GCED), which aims to be transformative, building learners’ knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to contribute to a more inclusive, just and peaceful world.
Objectives

To encourage pre-service teachers to integrate ideas of global citizenship education into the K-12 curriculum in their respective contexts (i.e., Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau)
To deepen pre-service teachers’ appreciation for global citizenship education issues and values related to their own community and in wider society
To promote innovation in curricular, extracurricular and/or teaching interventions that support students’ examination of real-life issues critically and creatively
To foster collaborative lesson planning among pre-service teachers that enriches student participation, experience and outcomes
